Manual Lymph Drainage

Lymph drainage uses very gentle pressure movements on skin surface to heal on physical and neurological level at the same time.

This is a suitable technique for everyone who is not fond of oily and creamy treatments, as here transmitting material is not needed to be sufficient.

To encourage and facilitate lymphatic system it is necessary to use very gentle and light pressures so the technique is optimal for sensitive skin type too.

My mentor studied personally from the founder of the technique for many years and I myself also keep the traditions of the original Dr Vodder manual lymph drainage. Please visit the website of the association:

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) was pioneered by Drs. Emil Vodder and Estrid Vodder in the 1930s.

Operation of the lymphatic system

One task of the lymph system is to collect the lymphatic fluid that venous system cannot.

The other is to clean this collected fluid and deliver it back to blood circulation.
During this process, lymphatic system takes part in producing the white corpuscles and in operating the immune system.  The fluid consisting of white corpuscles and waste materials that remain between cells is natural and normal. The lymph system can collect this fluid easily with its smooth lymph capillaries. These capillaries carry it to bigger vessels and then the lymph is transporting to collecting vessels, where also some lymph nodes take place. In these lymph nodes there is a continuous cleaning, detoxification.
For more effective cleaning it is recommended to use ventral massage as well, as in intestines elimination of waste materials happens on a very high level.
The bigger vessels terminate in the jugular vein where the blood pressure is the lowest.
This way the system provides the necessary amount and quality of fluid for cells and organs.
In addition, if any problem blocks the system, the fluid rich in waste materials.

We can avoid these serious cases with drinking the necessary amount of fluid based on our body weight, doing sports or physical work, activities on a regular basis, having deep not just surface breathing, upon overweight having diet.

Effects of the Manual Lymphatic Drainage

On bodily level it affects cells, tissues and calms muscles.

This state of relaxation affects vegetative nervous system, relaxes the patient and reduces pain. Harmonizes sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system, blocks sympathetic nervous system and optimizes the reactions given to stress to heal diseases caused by stress.

The therapy takes part in strengthening the immune system by eliminating the body’s waste products with the support of lymph nodes, or even of digestive system in case of special ventral treatments.
This detoxification refreshes and rejuvenate on a cellular level too, I advice it as skin rejuvenating and anti cellulite massage method as well.

It also has a good effect on the walls of veins, helps to deliver the waste products and cholesterol.
It is recommended before and after surgeries, upon injuries or diseases, for sports people, as part of baby preparation programs, upon existing edema, lymphedema caused by any reason, to reduce inflammation or to boost the immune system.

It is necessary to provide these factors that determine the effect of drainage

  • Drinking suitable amount of fluid (water) during the treatment, at least before and after the drainage
  • 1 -1 ½ hour free time per occasion
  • Calm, pleasant circumstances
  • Warmer room temperature (25-31 degrees)
  • Comfortable, not too hard and not too soft (massage) bed
  • Keeping the warm temperature and relaxed state of the body with towel or blanket

Booking informations

Even one treatment is effective, but in case of problematic cases systematic cure is recommended. Depending on how serious the issue is, this can even mean daily treatment until the development and a monthly or annual regeneration state is reached.
In case of longer therapy it is possible to buy season ticket with allowance to help the patience’s continuous recovery.

When check-in I kindly ask the detailed information about the patient’s health state and background, preferable with medical sheets.
